Svabhāvavādaḥ

 

anekaduḥkhamayaḥ saṃsāraḥ sarvathā hetunirapekṣa
eva | vastuto'yaṃ saṃsāraḥ svabhāvādeva bhavati | svabhāvo hi hetunirapekṣataiva
|

 

nityasattvā bhavantyeke nityasattvāśca kecana |

 

vicitrāḥ kecidityatra tatsvabhāvo niyāmakaḥ | |

 

bahirūṣṇo jalaṃ śītaṃ samasparśastathā'nilaḥ |

 

kenedaṃ racitaṃ tasmāt svabhāvāt tad
vyavasthitiḥ | |

 

vastūnāṃ kādācitkatvaṃ tu uttarakālasiddhimātreṇaiva
pratīyate
, etatsarvam ahetuvāde'pi
siddhatyeva | vastutastu kādācitkabhāvo nirhetukaḥ
, bhāvatvāt, vyomavat | vastūnāṃ yadavadhi niyatatvaṃ dṛśyate
tadapi svabhāvādeva bhavati | yato hi niyatadeśavṛttittvaṃ niyatakālavṛttitvaṃ
svabhāvādeva sidhyati | svata eva bhāvā jāyante naśyanti ca | kādācitkaḥ
( padārthaḥ ) hetusāmagrīnirapekṣaḥ padārthatvāt
naiyāyikasammataprāgabhāvapadārthavat | vastūnāṃ hetusāpekṣatve svīkriyamāṇe
anavasthā syāt | api ca
, kāryāṇāṃ
hetuparamparāsvīkāre prativādināṃ sammata īśvaro'pi kathaṃ na syāt | kiñca
, ghaṭādiḥ ahetukaḥ padārthatvāt, parasammateśvarādivat |

 

kalpitastu kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ
niyatapaurvāparyāvabhāsaḥ yogīcchāto'pi vastūnāmutpādāt
, svapnādāvapi ghaṭāderūtpādāt | na hi svapniko
ghaṭo bhrāntaḥ svapne prabodhaparyantaṃ tasya vastutvāt | na hi sarvaṃ vastu
sarvadā sadeveti vastusvabhāvaḥ | tantubhya eva paṭa iti pauvāparyāvabhāsastu kṛttikārohiṇyutpādādau
paurvāparyāvabhāse satyapi tayoḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvanirāsāt nirastaḥ |

 

na hi sataḥ sadeva utpadyata ityapyasti
kāryakāraṇabhāvasiddhaye ālambaḥ | vijātīyād gomayād vṛścikotpattidarśanāt
, prāgabhāvasya naiyāyikaiḥ kāraṇatvasvīkārācca
| kadācid vartamānebhyastantubhyaḥ paṭaḥ
, kadācit naṣṭebhyaḥ kṣīrebhyo dadhidarśanāt |

 

niyatadeśavṛttitvaṃ niyatakālavṛttitvamapi
svabhāve eva hetuḥ
, na tu kāryakāraṇabhāvasvīkāre, yato hi svabhāvādeva tantudeśavṛttitvaṃ paṭādīnām, na tu vemādideśavṛttitvam | kādācitkatvamapi
svabhāvādeveti paryavasyati | yato hi kāryasyāhetukatve'pi tattatkāraṇatvābhimataniyatottarakālavṛttitvam
, na tu kālāntaravṛttitvamiti niyamo'pi
svabhāvādeva sidhyati |

 

na hi prayojanamuddiśya jagatpravṛttiriti
niyamo vajralepāyate
, yena cetanasya kasyacit
kartṛtvaṃ sidhyeta | bhavedetadevaṃ yadi pravṛttiḥ prayojanavattayā vyāptā
bhavet
, na tu eṣā tathā'sti |
ananusaṃhitaprayojanānāmapi yādṛcchikīṣu kriyāsu pravṛttidarśanāt | api ca
, vṛthāceṣṭākartṛṇām abhāve na kurvīta vṛthā ceṣṭām
iti dharmasūtrakṛtāṃ pratiṣedhavacanamapi nirviṣayaṃ syāt |

 

dṛśyate hi āśvāsa- praśvāsalakṣaṇā kriyā prayojanam
ananusandhāyaiva bhavati
, anyathā kasyacidapi
bhūtasya maraṇameva na bhavet | duḥkhodreke rodanavat sukhodreke hāsagānādeḥ
prayojanoddeśyarahitasya sarvānubhavasiddhatvāt |

 

pravṛttiḥ saprayojanaiva bhavati | ataḥ
aprayojanavato brahyaṇaḥ kathaṃ jagadutpattiriti | tatrāhuḥ bhagavatpādāḥ
- " yathā cochvāsapraśvāsādayo'nabhisandhāya bāhyaṃ
kiñcit prayojanaṃ svabhāvādeva sambhavanti
, evamīśvarasyāpi anapekṣya kiñcit
prayojanānantaraṃ svabhāvādeva kevalaṃ līlārūpā pravṛttirbhaviṣyati
" " na ca svabhāvaḥ paryanuyoktuṃ śakyate | " atra mayā ucyate- yadi īśvaro'pi svabhāvādhīna eva śāṅkare'pi
mate sṛṣṭiṃ vidhāsyati
, tarhi ahetukāt
svabhāvādeva sṛṣṭiriti manyatām
, kimantargaḍunā īśvareṇa |

 

īśvaravādasya ḍiṇḍimaghoṣaṃ kurvatā'pi
praśastapādena āptakāmeneśvareṇa kathaṃ sṛṣṭirbhaviṣyati iti śaṅkāyāḥ
pratyuttarārthaṃ svabhāvavāde eva śaraṇaṃ prāptam
- athavā śaktisvabhāvyāt ( īśvarasya pravṛttiḥ ) yathā kālasya vasantādīnāṃ paryāyeṇābhivyaktau
sthāvarajaṅgamavikārotpattau svabhāvataḥ
, tathā īśvarasyāpi āvirbhāva-anugraha- saṃhāra- śaktīnāṃ paryāyeṇābhivyaktau prāṇinām utpatti-sthiti-pralayahetukatvam |

 

yadi īśvarasya īśvaratvaṃ svabhāvamūlakameva , tadā kimiti īśvarakalpanayā |

 

kiñca īśvāro na kāraṇam, upalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptatve sati
anupalabhyamānatvāt
, śaśaviṣāṇavat | śaśaviṣāṇaṃ
hi anupalabhyamānasattākam
, ato na bhāvānāṃ kāraṇam | na cāyamasiddho hetuḥ- padmakesarādīnāṃ kaṇṭakataikṣṇyādīnāṃ kāraṇasya
anupalabhyamānatvāt |

 

yathā ca bāhyānāṃ padārthānāṃ kāraṇānualambhād
ahetukatvam
, tathā ādhyātmikānāmapi duḥkhādīnām
ahetukatvameva | atrāpi anumānaprayogaḥ
-

 

yat kādācitkaṃ tad ahetukam, yathā kaṇṭakataikṣṇyādi, kādācitkāni ca duḥkhādīni, atastānyapi ahetukānyeva |

 

ata evoktaṃ śāntarakṣitena -

 

janmanyapekṣā bhāvānāṃ na ca svasya parasya vā
|

 

sarvahetunirāśaṃsaṃ bhāvāḥ sarve bhavanti hi |
|

 

rājīvakesarādīnāṃ vaicitryaṃ kaḥ karoti hi |

 

mayūracandrakādirvā vicitraḥ kena nirmitaḥ |

 

yathaiva kaṇṭakādīnāṃ taikṣṇyādikamahetukam |

 

kādācitkatayā tadvad duḥkhādīnāmahetutā | |

 

hetubhūti niṣedho na svānupākhyavidhirna ca |
